Let's get straight to the point: How hard are you making people work to find you?
I run a free Facebook group called The Group Coaching Club for folks who want to dive into the nuances of Group Coaching. Before I let people in, I like to verify that they have a coaching business or have gone through coach training.
Guess what? 90% of the time I can't find ANYTHING about their business, their coach training, or that they're a coach at all. I can't even find a website link.
So how can they say they're in business?! Unless you're a really fabulous speakeasy... you need to make it easy for people to find you. It's not that people are lazy... but they ARE busy. Really, really, really busy.
RESPONSE EFFORT: The harder it is, the less likely someone will do it.*
Think about it: Do you get your morning coffee someplace that's on your route to work? Are you more likely to hit the drive through than get out of the car?
How about your work tasks? Are you most likely to sit and check and respond to email, or do a task that requires getting up from the desk or start a project from scratch?
We do what's easiest. That's human.
You need to make it easy for people who find you. That's CEO.
It is NOT the job of potential clients to be oh, so fascinated by what you're doing, that they will go hunting all over tarnation to find out more.
